Bad Credit Home Loans: Do They Exist? |

The days of getting a home loan with a 500 credit score have disappeared. Even so, it is possible to get a mortgage loan with a low credit score. Bad credit home loans do exist. However, you’ll have to find a subprime lender, and you’ll need to meet all their home loan requirements. Today, getting a home loan with less than perfect credit involves a down payment, and you may have to sit through a credit and home buyer’s workshop. What’s more, bad credit home loans feature excessive interest rates. Persons who don’t qualify for a traditional mortgage may have to seek out a hard money lender. I’m not referring to a loan shark, who’ll break your legs if you can’t repay. But rather a private lender, someone who lends cash to people caught in a bind. Unfortunately, hard money lenders charge much higher rates, whereas you might pay 9 or 10 percent for a mortgage loan. Of course, bad credit home loans aren’t always permanent. Even if you can’t qualify for a prime rate, you can always refinance in the future. Make plans to improve your credit score, and refinance for a lower rate.
